“Applications of Science and Technology for Sustaining Tourism and Hospitality Industry: Bridging Theory and Practice” on 28-29 November, 2013 at Rishikesh, Uttarakhand- reg.

Jeevan Lal Verma, Director , Rural Organisation For Social Elevation (ROSE)/ Owner  Jeevan Paying Guest Unit , Community Based Tourism  at Village- Sunargaon, Kanda, Bageshwar, Uttarakhand.

We at ROSE KANDA strongly believe in application of science and technology for sustaining tourism. As an experience host for tourism, I have been a key note speaker for a national seminar at CENTRE FOR MOUNTAIN TOURISM & HOSPITALITY STUDIES / HEMWATI NANDAN BAHUGUNA GARHWAL UNIVERSITY.

I have successfully presented our current practices in community based tourism with live examples on how we educate, train and create awareness on waste and water management, use of solar lights, constructing biogas tanks & compost toilet; other practical applications such as promoting LPG gas to save forest and cooker and electric pan to save energy. Also included how we have been effective in networking our eco tourism via communications such as blogs, emails, articles, website, documentary, social networking and phone.

The participants at the national seminar were academicians, industry stakeholders, research scholars, students, private practitioners, and tourism and hospitality experts. They have deeply respected the scholarly views and appreciated the practical application/demonstration of technology in sustaining tourism.
